1. Organizing Ideas For Kitchen
The kitchen is the heart of a home. In my house it’s definitely the area that I spend the most time in, and the one that guests gravitate toward. This being so, it is also the area of my house that gets the messiest the fastest. In an effort to stay on top of my kitchen and keep it as clean as possible, I have a few steadfast rules I live by.
Wipe down the countertops after every meal: My mother is by far the cleanest person I know, and when it comes to kitchen organizing ideas, this women is my go-to. One of her steadfast rules is to always wipe down the kitchen counters after each meal.
Even if she can’t see any crumbs on the counter, she still wipes it down. This left the countertops clean, food free, and smelling great. My favorite product to use on my own counters is Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Spray
Empty out your fridge once a week and move expiring products to the front:
There is a reason grocery stores place items with upcoming expiration dates near the front of their shelves. They want to get rid of the items! You should apply the same idea to your own fridge.
Once a week go through the fridge and throw away any old leftover containers, and move items with approaching expiration dates from the back of the fridge to the front. This way (theoretically) you will eat the items before they go bad. You can use clear plastic bins like these to help you separate the new from the old products.
Keep pantry items grouped together:
The one place where you want to have everything organized and accessible is the pantry. It always seems like the pantry organization is an afterthought when it comes to kitchen design. If I had my dream kitchen, the pantry would be separated into segments like a built-in office is so that I could find everything I needed easily. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve thought I was out of something only to find it weeks later rotting in the pantry. After putting these clear organizing bins on my registry, I have solved my problem and can always find what I need! I just need to remember what category I placed them in LOL
2. Organizing Ideas for the Bedroom
Utilize closets and drawers
Alas, the bedroom. The place that is supposed to be the ultimate refuge from a busy day spent out in the world. Yet, when it is littered with clutter from all the things and places we went during the day, it becomes a den of chaos rather than a world of calm. The best way to prevent this from happening is to develop an organizing system for your bedroom that becomes a habit rather than a chore.
The way I accomplish this is by storing items as far out of sight as possible. In order to do this, I utilize my drawers and closets to their max ability. Legit, they might be busting at the seams, but you wouldn’t know this by looking at them. In order to do this, I utilize this drawer organizer and this closet hanging tool.
Both of these add space within the confines of enclosed areas so you are maximizing your resources without revealing your secrets to guests!
I’m a huge fan of a calm, clean bedroom too, and both of these help me accomplish these goals.
Organizing Ideas for Small Spaces
Ekkk, the dreaded small spaces. These propose new challenges for organizations due to their sheer size limitations. It is a simply fact of life that a smaller area gets messy way faster than a big one.
My mom always says that the smaller a space the more important it is to put all of your items back in the spot where they belong.
When a small space is at stake it is paramount that you develop a system for putting things in the place where they go. My favorite items to use when doing so are a great wicker basket.
I LOVE a good wicker basket. I think they are the perfect tool to hide things away without being an eyesore in the room. Thankfully, they come in a variety of colors so you can easily find the one that matches your room decor.
One of the fastest ways to mess up a small space is by allowing outerwear to pile up in excess throughout the room. As a teacher, it feels like I am schlepping a new bag to and from work with me every day.
Thankfully, my house has a small built-in coat hanging rack, but I still find myself needing more space to hang my coats, umbrellas, and bags. That is where the hall tree comes in handy. This hall tree is my absolute favorite piece for keeping everything that comes from the cars into the house in one place.
Organizing Ideas for Home Media
Ah, the dreaded cords. They seem to come from every device and refuse to stay organized without assistance.
When I first bought my house, I found myself wrangling cords on the daily. First, I had to hide the ones that seemed insistent on refusing to stay put behind my television, then the ones that hung out under my computer desk, and finally the ones for the devices that I keep in the kitchen.
Then, I discovered the magic of the perfect media cabinet. This Costway TV Stand is similar to the one we have in our basement and allows you to hide your cords away in style. The farmhouse/ French country vibes that it gives don’t hurt things either!
Another simple trick I like to do is to buy these zip ties to keep all of my cords tied together.
These keep my cords together within the constant need to push them back behind something. Another easy buy simple thing I do in any room with a television is to make sure I have a designated box to place all of my remotes. This Zodaca Remote Controller Box is small, stylish, and compact enough to barely be seen next to the TV.
If you’re looking for a more stylish feel, this Better Homes and Gardens Small Weave Box is an instant fav!
It’s not easy to keep a home organized, but by taking one small step each day, you will have an organized home in no time!
