I feel like I write some variation of this post every winter.
In the winter, the weather grows colder, the days seem longer, and the nights continue to get busier with fewer fun tasks than in the summer months.
On top of that, it seems like everything else in life suffers in the winter months as well. My dryer broke recently, as well as my living room ottoman- both trivial things, but when added together, are never fun.
Then from all the stress come the illnesses that seem to plague my system when stress overloads its firewall.
First, it was mono, then, covid, and finally the lingering effects of covid. Then, my poor puppy got sick, and that somehow felt way worse than any of my illnesses combined.
When life feels slightly overwhelming, I remind myself that even this will pass. Nothing lasts forever, and sometimes it really is just about getting through the tough times until life gets easier again.
This is not always an easy mantra to live by, but it is something that has gotten me through even my darkest of days. Telling myself that the sun will rise and tomorrow will come even on my toughest days, reminds me that the worst, and even the best days always come to an end.
If you are going through a trying time, try to remind yourself that the pain will eventually fade, and the sunlight will shine again. This simple reminder is sometimes all we need to continue working, dreaming, and living.
Whether you are struggling with being a mom, a friend, or a colleague, remind yourself that the struggle will only last so long, and the sun is bound to shine again. Pain and joy are only temporary emotions, that we must realize do not last forever, no matter how much we might want them to.
The sun will always rise and a new day will dawn.
